1 Introduction

Welcome to Teardrop ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application Teardrop ("the App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2 Who We Are

Teardrop is developed and operated by Ishaq Ahmed ("the Developer").

3 Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Account information — your display name, username (@handle), email address, and password when you create an account
• Profile information — profile photo and bio that you choose to add
• Cry logs — emotion type, intensity (1–5), written notes, photos, and voice recordings you attach to a cry
• Communications — comments and messages you send within the app

Information collected automatically

• Location data — GPS coordinates at the time you log a cry (only collected when you actively log a cry, not continuously tracked)
• Device information — device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
• Usage data — how you interact with the app, features you use, and time spent in the app
• Push notification token — to deliver notifications to your device

Information from third parties

• Sign in with Apple — if you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address from Apple. If you choose to hide your email, Apple provides a private relay email address instead
• Google — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google
• RevenueCat — if you purchase a premium subscription, RevenueCat processes your payment and shares subscription status with us

4 How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Display your cries on the map and in your feed
• Enable social features — following, friend requests, likes, comments, and notifications
• Send push notifications about activity on your account
• Calculate statistics, achievements, and your emotional map
• Improve and develop the app
• Respond to your support requests
• Ensure safety — enforce our Terms of Service and handle reports of abuse

5 How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following circumstances:

With other users

• Your username, display name, profile photo, and bio are visible to other users
• Cries you mark as "Everyone" are visible to all users on the map and global feed
• Cries you mark as "Friends" are visible only to mutual followers
• Cries you mark as "Close Friends" are visible only to users on your Close Friends list
• Cries you mark as "Only Me" are visible only to you

With service providers

For legal reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

6 Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete all your data including:

• Your profile and account information
• All your cries, photos, and voice recordings
• Your likes, comments, follows, and friend connections
• Your achievements and statistics

Some data may remain in backups for up to 30 days after deletion before being permanently removed.

7 Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data (available directly in the app under Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account)
• Export your data (available in the app under Settings → Export my data)
• Object to certain processing of your data

8 Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

Users between 13 and 17 should use the app with parental consent.

9 Location Data

We collect your GPS location only when you actively log a cry. We do not track your location continuously in the background. You can deny location permissions in your phone settings, but some features of the app will not work without location access.

Your location data is stored as coordinates and used to:

• Place your cry on the map
• Calculate which country/city the cry occurred in
• Show your cry to other users based on the visibility setting you chose

10 Photos and Voice Recordings

Photos and voice recordings you attach to a cry are stored securely in our cloud storage (Supabase Storage). They are only accessible according to the visibility settings you choose for that cry. We do not analyze the content of your photos or voice recordings.

11 Push Notifications

We send push notifications for activity related to your account (likes, comments, follows, friend requests). You can manage which notifications you receive in the app under Settings → Notifications. You can also disable all notifications in your phone's system settings.

12 Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (hosted in the EU). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

13 International Transfers

Our services are hosted in the European Union (Supabase — Ireland). If you are located outside the EU, your data will be transferred to and stored in the EU. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.

14 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending a notification through the app.

15 How to Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your account at any time, directly inside the app — no email request needed.

Steps

1. Open Teardrop and go to the Settings tab
2. Scroll down to the Danger Zone section
3. Tap Delete Account and confirm

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently erases all data associated with you, including:

• Your profile — display name, username, bio, and profile photo
• Your cries — every cry you logged, along with their attached photos and voice recordings
• Your comments — all comments you posted
• Your likes — all likes you gave
• Your followers & following — all follow connections, friend requests, and close-friend relationships
• Your achievements, statistics, and notifications

Your data is removed from our active database immediately. Any residual copies in our encrypted backups are permanently deleted within 30 days. Account deletion is irreversible and cannot be undone.

If you have any trouble deleting your account from within the app, email us at hello.teardropapp@gmail.com and we will delete it for you.

16 Child Safety Standards

Teardrop has a zero-tolerance policy towards child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any form of sexual content involving minors. We are committed to keeping the app safe for all users and to protecting children from exploitation and abuse.

Any user found to be sharing, distributing, or soliciting such content will be permanently banned and reported to the relevant authorities immediately, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and local law enforcement.
